Zebra Centre's Key Message
The Zebra Centre provides
Safety. Support. Strength.
When danger appears, zebras form a protective circle around their young. Our multi-disciplinary team works the same way in the Zebra Centre providing a continuum of care.

The Zebra Centre supports children, youth, and safe caregivers throughout the entire disclosure, investigation, judicial and healing journey.

Since 2002, the Zebra Child & Youth Advocacy Centre has been our community’s response to child abuse, providing a continuum of supports to children and youth who have experienced abuse.

The Zebra Centre was the first Child & Youth Advocacy Centre in Canada and continues to lead the way in providing services and supports to kids who have been hurt.

Every child responds to trauma differently and we meet them at their level – whatever that may be – to surround them with customized services and supports.

The Zebra Centre is a place that you hope you never have to visit. But in a crisis, when a child discloses being hurt, the Zebra Centre is ready to help!

In just the last four years, the number of children and youth visiting the Zebra Centre has nearly doubled. Last year, the Zebra Centre helped a record 4,362 children and youth.

It takes a herd to help children and youth who have experienced abuse, and the new Zebra Centre will provide the perfect habitat for providing safety, supports and strength to the thousands of kids to come to Zebra every year.

We all have a duty to report abuse. (Report abuse to local police or Child & Family Services Abuse Hotline) The Zebra Centre is not a reporting agency, but once abuse is reported, the Zebra Centre responds with support.

Abuse can (and does) happen anywhere, in any home. It impacts every demographic in our community.

The new Zebra Centre opens later this year and will provide a larger, more accessible and purpose-built child-friendly space to provide our continuum of supports.

We must raise $6.158 million from the community to fund the build out of the new Zebra Centre. About half of this amount has been raised so far. Every gift matters.

Additionally, the Zebra Centre must raise over $600,000 from the community every year to support our important services.
